Sisterhood Story: Tomisin

ree

During the freshman application process, I knew that I wanted to go through recruitment no matter what school I ended up at. My parents were less than excited though. In the country they grew up in, sororities and fraternities were seen as cults. It didn’t make sense to them. This process had to wait until I was a sophomore and could pay for it myself.

I’ve always had a certain drive about me. No one or no thing could get in my way. I don’t know why but the recruitment process was calling my name. I prayed about it and registered.

By the time I was a sophomore, we had COVID-19 recruitment and had to go through the process online. Many said this was awkward, but I enjoyed the process. I knew Chi Omega was where I belonged because I felt like I was FaceTiming my best friends. Each day I got invited back, I was so excited to meet more women in Chi Omega and continue to strengthen our bond. Come Bid Day, I was ecstatic when I opened my bid day card, I had received the house of my dreams; Chi Omega.

While being a member, the best parts of me have come out, my leadership qualities have grown and I have found incredible and supportive best friends. I had an encouraging new member educator, who nominated me for my member class's Model Initiate.

Chi Omega helped me build my confidence and foster that drive to be something productive. They helped me reach my academic goals and personal life goals. I’m eternally grateful that God placed me in Chi Omega. He surrounded me with a community that brought out the best in me and helped me recognize qualities that I was too insecure to recognize. As any Chi Omega woman would say, Chi Omega, yours forever!
